The Free Painting Project

The next Free Painting Project collection launches Saturday, May 15th at 10am EST, titled “It Kinda Looks Like an Ocean”!

You can view the collection here!

This time around we’re calling it the Free-ish Painting Project. Paintings will be available with a donation to Apraxia Kids in honor or Apraxia Awareness Month. My son has been on a speech therapy journey with Apraxia since he was 18 months old. It was a roller coaster journey starting out, but the last year has included greatest victories I have ever witnessed! Hearing his little voice emerge and watch him communicate verbally with peers for the first time is an experience I will never forget. We are praying these paintings raise funds to help other kiddos like our son find their voice. Thank you for your support!

#FreePaintingProject

You know that scene in the Titanic? When the ship is going down and chaos ensues – but the musicians just keep playing? They did what felt right in the moment to “help”.

As it became apparent in April 2020 that quarantine would linger a bit longer than expected, I did the same thing. I just kept painting. While the rest of the world felt upside down, I still had a block of time during my son’s nap to pull out my supplies and paint. My daily painting session was familiar and constant amidst the uncertainty and new “normal”.

When nearly a dozen floral paintings stacked up on our kitchen table, I decided to do something most would find crazy: I gave them away for free.

And then the #freepaintingproject was born.

Hello! My name is Brittany.

I’m a stay-at-home-mom who picked up a paint brush one day for a #naptimediy. I have no formal training or art education, just a heart to find, create and share beauty however I am led.

I’ve loved anything creative for as long as I can remember. It’s woven into who I am and how I approach every opportunity or task in life. When I became a mom, I lost that side as I tried to figure out my new role. Through trial and error, countless projects and plenty of flops, I’ve learned how to balance caring for my family while doing the things that bring me joy. These little paintings bring me A LOT of joy!

The Free Painting Project is exactly what the name implies!

I create 6-10 piece collections of 8×10 inch original acrylic paintings, then post them for sale for free. All I ask is for the recipient to pay the $10 US shipping fee. They are all first come, first served – and sell out within minutes! In 2020, I sent out 24 paintings to new homes across the US. I hope to double that number in 2021!

Why do I give the paintings away?

Because why not?! I was gifted the ability to create art – and I believe in passing it along as a gift to you. Everyone is deserving of original art. It is an honor to add a whole lot of happy to your home!

You are Strong. You are Worthy. You are Capable.

I’m on a mission to remind people, especially mommas, they are strong, worthy and capable.

Through this experience, I’ve realized I’m capable of more than I ever knew. That I’m worthy of feeling and creating joy for myself (in addition to serving my family). And that even on the tough momma days, I am strong.

You don’t have to lose who you are or the things that bring you joy when you have kids. It will probably look a little different… but maybe that’s the start of an even better journey. It sure has been for me! Won’t you join me?
