One of our favorite parts about #nantucket are the naturally worn cedar shingles and crisp white trim. It’s the quintessential Nantucket we love (especially when you throw in the overflowing hydrangea bushes.) It took awhile for us to realize what actually was happening in pictures like this: The window needed replaced.
So when the old shingles were removed, fresh, new, unweathered shingles went up in their place.
It might take a couple years for everything to blend together again – but it will.
When we’re in the midst of a difficult season, we feel like our wounds and scars are the first thing people see when they look at us. Maybe a break-up, a loss, illness, difficult or unfortunate decision or just a cruddy experience. But, over time those wounds aren’t so apparent. They’re still there, and still part of our story, but they aren’t the first thing you see – and definitely not the first thing you think about in the morning.
This goes out to everyone who feels like the house in this picture with a fresh wound. Keep fighting and keep believing in yourself. Keep weathering the storm. You are strong and capable.
And if you’re feeling like you’ve made it to the other side – cheers to you! You are strong and capable.
