Description
This is the sweetest painting of the collection to me.
My greatest fear in pursuing this creative endeavor was sacrificing time with my little guy. I thought that in order to be a “good mom” he had to have my undivided attention at all times. As seasoned moms know and I’ve learned on my own, that just isn’t true.
When the easel found a home in the living room and canvases started piling up, I gained a sweet assistant I didn’t know I deserved. He wanted to be a part of whatever it was mommy was doing. And, he wanted a paint brush and canvas of his own.
Simultaneously, we have spent a lot of time together in therapy sessions working in speech and sensory areas. As a way to help with texture tolerance, I set him up with his own painting station one day. He was so excited! Still a bit hesitant to feel and touch but inquisitive and willing to keep trying.
Together we have been creating these color-filled abstract paintings. My little artist loves to point out the colors, roll them around and of course applaud the final result.
I pray this painting remind all the mommas out there to bring their kiddos into their hobbies and passions. Teach them. Encourage them. Let them help you.
