Description
Sandcastles remind me of the innocence of a child. On an early early morning beach walk, my two year old ran straight to the neighbors sandcastles from yesterday’s play and proceeded to jump on one of the spires. At first I was upset that he would destroy someone’s creation. Then it hit me like a punch to the gut, he’s only two. He doesn’t know any different! Jumping is play from his perspective. Whenever I am quick to get upset, I think of this sandcastle and remember that his heart is innocent. Some lessons just haven’t been taught, yet.
It is up to us as parents to teach our children kindness – be it eye contact and a handshake. Or, how to build and appreciate a good ‘ole fashioned sandcastle.
